Drum

Drum
The
drum is a percussion instrument consisting of a stretched skin and beaten with a hand or a rod. Besides the skin, also used drums of other material, such as plastic. The drums are all over the world and has many types, such as drums, timpani, bodhran, Ashiko, snare drum, bass drum, tom-tom, drum, and others.

In pop music, rock, and jazz, drums are usually referring to the drum kit or drum set, the drum group that usually consists of snare drum, tom-tom, bass drum, cymbals, hi-hat, and sometimes plus a variety of musical instruments electric drum . People who play the drum set called the "drummer".

Drum is actually mixed. There is a snare, tom-tom, bass, conga, tymbal, mondo, drum, tabla ... etc., they are essentially drum, because the play by being hit. But we are considering is a drumset, is arguably the most modern form of drum. Drumset itself actually consists of three drums, the snare, tom-tom and bass drum. To tom-tom still be divided into two more, namely: Mounted tom and floor tom-tom (depending on the placement and diameter only). Of the three elements are still some important elements, namely cymbals, hardware (pedal, hihat stand, cymbal stand, snare stand, tom holder / tom stand) and the drumhead.
Tom-tom consists of a wide range of sizes in both the depth and diameter. Size 12x10 written a drum bias means that the depth of 12 inches and 10 inches in diameter. Tom-tom diameter varies, usually the small tom-tom diameter of 6 ", and continues to 8", 10 ", 12", 13 ", 14", 15 ", 16", 18 "and 20". Tom-tom sizes 14 "and above can be classified as a floor tom-tom, but depending on the placement as well. Tom-tom using 2 drumhead, top and bottom, except in the 70's which, toms and bass drum drumhead only use one only, and his voice was awful. Board tom-tom or commonly called a shell made of wood. For beginners class drum typically use Mahogany wood and is usually used for professional grade Birch and Maple wood. Wood Birch and Maple are more expensive because it produces a sound or tone that round and clear. Wood on tom-toms usually have a thickness of 4 to 10 mm. The thinner the wood so the resulting sound is rich and sensitive. While the sound produced thick wood tougher, but his voice is not very rich, and less sensitive.
Bass drum is not too different from the tom-tom, bass drum has a diameter just larger, 16 ", 18", 20 ", 22", 24 "and even 26" or more. And bass drum beaten with pedal and put it under. But it does not sound like a bass drum tom-tom-voiced "Dung ..." but tend to sound "Dug ..." (More dead voice). Wood bass drum tends to be thick to produce a louder voice and for the resistance drum itself.
Snare drum is the drum of the most different among the other (from the shape and sound). And snare drum are the main elements of the drumset (the most frequently beaten). These drums are usually measuring 10 "to 15", but the most commonly used is a size 14 ". That makes a difference on the snare drum at the bottom of the drum. Beneath use wires or the actual spiral called Snare Wire / Strainer . thing that makes a difference on the snare drum. If you hit the head on the snare wire under the immediate response, by way of 'hitting' head back down and produce a sharp sound. Therefore, the actual 'life' of the snare drum is located on the snare wirenya. If wirenya detachable snare sound generated is almost equal to the tom-tom.

Cymbals, again a 'life' for the drumset, because it is almost impossible to play the drums without cymbals (supposing such as eating rice without rice, donk ... do not eat). Cymbals consist of four types of them are:
1. Hihat cymbal:'Heart' cymbals and drums. Useful to keep the time / date. consists of a pair of cymbals. measuring 8 "to 15". Standard size 14 "
2. Ride cymbal:The same function as hihat but with different shapes and sounds. Consists of only one cymbal but a large 18 "to 22". standard size 20 "
3. Crash cymbal:Useful to phrase / tone to a song. Measuring 13 "to 22" depending on the tastes of the player.
4. Effects cymbal:Effects consist of Splash cymbal, bell, china and swiss. Useful to give 'color' special on a track. Splash and bell usually measuring 6 "to 12" and for china and swiss usually measuring 16 "to 22".

Hardware consists of a variety of forms and functions:
1. Pedal:Useful for hitting bass drums, double pedal is also available, namely the use of pedal 2 pedals and 2 beater or a beater to get better sound on the bass drum.
2. Hihat stand:To put the hihat cymbal consists of 2 pieces of cymbal so you can open and close the cymbal with your left foot.
3. Cymbal stand:To put all kinds except hihat cymbals.
4. Snare stand:To put the snare drum and you can change position at will.
5. Tom holder / tom stand:Useful to install the tom-tom.
Drumhead has the size, type, function and different thicknesses. Drumhead consists of three parts: First Batter head, which is designed specifically for the drumhead is struck. Second, Resonant just placed on the bottom of the tom-tom and bass drum front. Head is not to hit, the head is useful to give 'live' on the tom-tom and bass drum. And last is the snare side, specifically just to put the bottom of the snare to get a snare sound wirenya. Snare side is the head of the most thin. Remember, not to hit.
